How to Register your Drone with Transport Canada

To legally fly drones over 250g in Canada, Transport Canada requires registration through their Drone Management Portal. This guide walks you through the process step by step.

📝 Do You Need to Register?

Drone registration is required if your drone:

  • Weighs 250 grams or more, including attachments (e.g. cameras, payloads, etc.).

You do not need to register if:

  • Your drone weighs less than 250 grams and does not carry any accessories that raise the total weight to 250g or more.
